Arsenal Among Clubs Interested In Iraq Left Back

Ali Adnan has been one of the player's of the tournament.

Ali Adnan has been one of the player’s of the tournament.

Arsenal reportedly join Sevilla and Galatasaray as the clubs interested in signing Ali Adnan.

Adnan has been on duty with Iraq U20s at the FIFA U20 World Cup and scored a beautiful free-kick against Uruguay last night as he saw his side crash out on penalties at the semi final stage.

Adnan is somewhat the Iraqi Ian Harte, a left-back with a ferocious set piece. Despite his young age, at 19-years-old he has already made 17 full senior international appearances.

He plays his club football at Baghdad FC but revealed via Facebook the offers of the clubs mentioned.

He scored against England earlier in the tournament with a stunning solo run, of which you can see below.

Adnan is a tall and  physical but fast player, which lends well to Iraq’s counter-attack philosophy. Last night they were under huge pressure from Uruguay for large periods but managed to stay resolute until the 87th minute when Gonzalo Bueno grabbed an equaliser.

It was Adnan’s free-kick that gave Iraq the lead for most of the game though. He netted from a very tight angle after spotting a gap in the goalkeeper’s reach and perfectly struck the ball into it, catching the stopper completely off-guard.

Watch Adnan’s free kick from yesterday below.
