Arsene Wenger’s Capital One Cup sides have been notorious in recent years for showcasing some of the best young talent the game has to offer.
One assumes this week’s fixture against Coventry City won’t be any different for the Gunners as they stick to their youth options to fire them to cup glory – although it is something that has evaded them for a number of years now.
But who are the latest bunch of Arsenal wonderkids looking up to recent academy graduates like Jack Wilshere and looking to emulate his success?
Sanchez Watt has been a regular fixture in Arsenal’s Barclays Premier League Under 21 side this season after a series of loan spells throughout his career.
He is already 21-years-old but has already been at four football league clubs including two spells at Championship side Leeds United.
The striker has found himself short of goals and has been criticized for his poor physical edge. However, Arsene Wenger believes what is incredibly determined. He has described his movement, sharpness and great work rate in previous interviews and will most likely utilize Watt midweek.
Chuba Akpom is a very fast and strong English forward wanting to push the starting line-up at Arsenal this season.
Akpom first appeared for Arsenal’s Under 18s side when he was 15 and has never looked back since.
He is a regular in the England youth setups and will play a prominent role in Arsenal’s NextGen Series campaign this season.
Kyle Ebilicio has been a welcome addition to Arsenal’s reserve and now Under 21 side since his arrival from Feyenoord in 2010.
The Dutch midfielder picked up the prestigious Golden Player award at the 2011 European Championship and is widely renowned as the next Edgar Davids.
Serge Gnabry had a very exciting first year with the Gunners and will be eager to build on his already-outstanding reputation amongst the Arsenal squad.
He arrived from German club Stuttgart and was quickly established in last season’s reserve side. He was awarded a professional contract this summer and has flourished at youth international level for Germany.
